The 10 Best Looks from “Sex and The City”

Carrie Bradshaw is taking New York City, and the world, by storm! If you somehow haven’t been sucked into the Sex and the City universe, Carrie Bradshaw is a sex column writer whose favorite hobby is shopping. The series takes us through her adventures with her three best friends: Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda while they navigate Manhattan’s dating scene. Our favorite part of the show you ask? Obviously the outfits! Bradshaw’s Fashion sense is unique to say the least, but very fashion forward. Everyday we wake up and ask ourselves “What would Carrie wear?” Keep reading to see our favorite looks from Carrie’s Closet and our biggest fashion inspiration this Summer!
1. We can’t create a list of Carrie Bradshaw’s most iconic outfits if we don’t start with her look from the opening credits. A tutu with a cami and heels cinched with a ribbon in the middle of NYC.... Do we need to say anything else? Her hair is styled in the classic Carrie way in curls and weL O V E it! The whole ensemble is the perfect peak intowho Hollywood’s’ newest fashion icon is. This look is number 1 in our book and probably will be for the rest of eternity.
2. You can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress. This sleek, simple look is absolutely stunning. Styled with little strappy heels with a matching bag and aviators asthe perfect accessories to compliment this dress. Carrie showed that your legs can 100% be the statement piece in your outfit, and if our legs looked like that we probably would too!
3. If our boyfriend (type thing) told us we needed to clean out the clothes we never wear, we’d also probably start wearing those clothes too. This sheer top styled over a white mini dress with heels that match are definitely “stay in the closet” worthy. Styled with a white tote and a huge bun, we could never pull off “trash” as well as Carrie does!
4. Destressed in distress. We are absolutely obsessed with this look! This little romper is the definition of day to night. The sequins and the distressed skirt. We NEED it! The small lace bra sticking out at the top is serving up the perfect amount of class. Carrie chooses to compliment her amazingly tan and toned body with this light grey look and it has our eyes glued to the screen. Bradshaw’s smoky eye is the perfect final touch to this chic ensemble.
5. This Vivienne Westwood Wedding dress has us ALMOST as breathless as Carrie was when Big ditched their wedding! The two toned white gives a stunning “oh this old thing?!” effect that is the epitome of Carrie. The bubble layers, the off-white veil, the giant peacock feather! The lack of jewelry (minus the earrings) allows the dress to be the feature item while still showing off Carries dainty features. The long-stemmed roses are so gorgeous only a Westwood wedding dress owner would be able to pull it off. While Carrie’s feather might not be her only something blue, Big being unreliable is definitely her something old.
6. Mixing metals is only this easy to pull off if your name is Carrie Bradshaw. Frizzy hair thrown up in a half up - half down and a patterned slip dress cinched with a chunky belt is the epitome of Summer in NYC. Pair it with a gold purse, a signature “Carrie” necklace, and some shopping bags and that is the epitome of Carrie Bradshaw. This cute and bubbly look is definitely a go-to for Summer fashion inspiration that can be easily recreated with a few staple pieces from your closet.
7. You might think that this look is for a costume party, but it’s actually just every day for Carrie Bradshaw. We are absolutely dying over this ensemble. The bandeau top, the cowboy hat, the low waisted skirt with the cross body bag and arm cuff... W O W! While we might not be bold enough to mix snake skin with stripes and a Cowboy hat, we definitely love the shape and aesthetic of this look. This outfit will always make our top 10, we just wish we had Carrie’s abs to go with it!
8. Despite the fact that it is impossible to look this cute while you are ice skating, Carrie Bradshaw has pulled it off. Not to mention how iconic it is to be smoking a cigarette on the ice. The lowlights in Carrie’s hair perfectly match the statement belt she has used to cinch her adorable dress. The brown tones in her outfit balance the perfect white of her ice skates and jacket. Finished off with some bangles and a pendant necklace, we can’t think of better ice skating attire. With legs like that we would probably risk freezing too!
9. A formal ball gown with a tutu at the bottom?! That is just so Carrie Bradshaw. One of our favorite things about her is how true she is to herself. Paired with a sequin blazer and some strappy heals this is simply just another perfect look. I mean seriously... How does someone look that flawless running across the street? This cool toned look has many subtle compliments that we just have to swoon. Pairing silver shoes and jewelry with this blue and teal dress and a white blazer makes Carrie look like a snow queen, in the best way possible. Not to mention that fur muff!
10. Last but certainly not least is this last minute look. How many times have you been with your boyfriend and had nothing to wear the next day? Well this is never an issue for The Carrie Bradshaw. In this look she has paired together one of Big’s dress shirts, heels, and cinched with no less than an Hermes belt. Not to fawn over her, but if we had those legs maybe we wouldn’t have this issue either. I know we are starting to sound repetitive but we really need Carrie’s leg routine! Maybe its all the running around NYC in heels? This casual put together look turns Carries walk of shame into a runway.
Now don’t get us wrong, we love absolutely all of the looks from Sex and The City no matter who is wearing them! Nevermind which character you draw fashion inspiration from, you are guaranteed to have the best wardrobe out there.
