Shining a Light on “Good Light”
Today marks the last day of AAPI month, and in honor of this we want to highlight one of our favorite skincare brands: Good Light. Good Light is an AAPI with a mission of “beauty beyond the binary.” They are focused on creating a more inclusive definition of beauty through products and their purpose. They believe that “all our deserving to step into their light and be celebrated for their authenticity.” This brand chooses to highlight being gender-inclusive instead of terms like gender neutral or genderless, to really enforce their message of inclusivity as well as to include all genders not just male and female. Good Light was founded by David Yi. The brand originated as Very Good Light, a beauty platform, which still exists today. David also wrote the book “Pretty Boys”.
We have tried all the Good Light products, and we have to say we love them! Last week we restocked on our Cosmic Dew Water Cleanser that we wrote about in our empties article. Not only does the cleanser get rid of all the grime on my face, but it also has a double usage as a moisture mask. The Luna Pimple Patches were featured on the 2023 Allure’s Best of Beauty List, and they totally deserved it! These pimple patches suck out all the gunk and stay all day long, without pealing at your skin or baby hairs when they come off.
The Moon Glow Milky Toning Lotion might be one of my favorite products ever, and now it has a little sister The Taste of Space Lip Milk. Good Light’s toning lotion not only got me into the brand, but also got me into skincare. It is such an easy addition to your skincare routine, or lack thereof. It can be used as a stand-alone product, in your routine, or to help with razor burn/strawberry legs. Good Light’s newest release of their lip product is an absolute show stopper. The product is so easy to use and actually soaks into your lips to keep them hydrated and prep for your lip routine. Not to mention, it tastes like raspberries!
We obviously can not forget the We Come in Peace Microbiome Serum. This product helps balance your skin’s pH and protect your skin barrier so you can have healthy skin from the bottom to the top. This is the perfect step to add before your moisturizer. Speaking of moisturizer our favorite right now is the Order of the Eclipse Hyluronic Cream. This moisturizer is so good that my boyfriend asked me to get him a jar. Do you know how hard it is to put your boyfriend onto a new skincare routine?! Not only is this good for your face, but it keeps my hands hydrated throughout every season. Last but certainly not least the New Moon Balm. If you are only gonna buy one product, let it be this one. This all in one product helps heal your skin, no matter what is happening to it. The main purpose is drying out a pimple and restoring your post blemish skin, but it also works well on your cuticles, post waxing, tattoos, and so so much more.
